There’s something to be said about March madness. Especially this month at CreativJam. It’s almost a year since Danny and I opened our office in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. This has been the most eventful month for us yet.
We started on the first of March by welcoming our new software and web developer, Matt Pryor to the team. To be honest, it feels like he has been here forever. We are looking forward to lots of geeky web app development!
On March 3rd we ran an event with Google and the business growth hub in Rise Manchester. We offered advice on how to grow your business with Google AdWords. Of course that led to a team celebration at Alberts followed by some celebratory wines in the pub. Next a random conversation with a great bloke called Wilf and some odd snaps on the iPhone!
We Caught up with Hilary Pogson at the GM Chamber Action for Business lunch. Since have offered some help to the Rochdale Youth Council. Hilary works for Business in the Community, one of the Prince’s Charities. Her role is to listen to local needs in Rochdale with a view to creating partnerships of mutual benefit for communities and local businesses tackling social issues. The primary focus is on education, enterprise, employability and community cohesion. Hilary does this by facilitating businesses to invest in their community by sharing skills and experience. As such we were very interested in helping the Youth Council with their digital presence.
Dublin and Downing Street
Mid March we headed out to Dublin, Ireland with Emma Jones and her team from Enterprise Nation along with 36 other businesses in the food industry. The trip involved visits to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. If visiting the UK HQs of the social giants wasn’t enough, we actually got to attend a reception at the British Ambassor’s house. Ror all of who who are wondering if there was Ferrero Rocher, you’ll never know! We met John Stapleton, entrepreneur and founder of the Covent Garden Soup Company amongst many other foodie Gurus. Read all about that here
A couple of days later I was invited to go the the Prime Ministers house, (Number 10 Downing Street in case anyone had forgotten where he lives) and talk to Niamh Mulholland, Business Engagement Manager at the Prime Minister’s Office, along with twenty businesses from the North West & Yorkshire. What an experience. You can read the full story here.
We also attended the GM Business Expo at the Hilton Beetham Tower in Manchester. It was our first Biz Expo & we met a lot of new people, and came back all fired up.
Believe it or not we actually did some work too. We have been tapping into the API for iBidder to build a beautiful and seamless new experience for Manchester Auction House “TLH Auctioneers“. We have been working with a leading UK supplier in the safety industry to bring their online business into the mobile age, which will be ready next month & we can’t wait to see the mobile traffic hit the roof. Then we developed a sales tracking map for a food retailer.
Despite all this we still had time to have a couple of lunches at our work local The Flying Horse. Matt Pryor won a five a side football trophy. Jess could not contain her excitement at seeing her old childhood friend and could be seen cartwheeling through the streets of Wigan a tad tipsy. I went to see Legend Diva Mariah Carey. Matt W got lots of oohs and Ahs for his beautiful photographs in our CreativJam calendar, and Danny? Well he just drank Ale at his fave Atherton pub The Masons Arms.
