CreativJam Joins Forces With Kiko Creative

Sam & Frodo Have Each Other

Three weeks ago, with a back log of work, sixteen hour days and too much for one person I decided it was time to take that leap and find a co-designer-developer type person, though find being a bit of a reach, I didn’t have to look very far. I’ve been acquainted with him for years, I actually once taught him – though take no credit for anything other than a passion for colourful fun digital illustration type stuff which always shone through in my very enthusiastic nature, but I didn’t teach him any of the clever stuff, in fact I’m hoping to learn a bit more of my own. So to this end I am pleased to say from the 4th May I will be partnering with Mr Daniel Ackers of Kiko Creative and currently a software developer at a leading construction firm. Danny as he shall now forever be known (until I think of something else) is the missing piece of the jigsaw, the one when clients ask ‘is this possible’ and I say ‘I’ll find out’ that I ask. So I can’t think of anyone better suited to the role of creative & development co pilot. (Seriously, we need to make up some actual job titles) Whilst all this was in discussion , I went to meet with an accountancy firm. This turned out to be another of those chance meetings in life, where you came away with more than you bargained for. We met with Julie Bowmer, Rochdale Businesswoman of the Year & clearly another super – Julie is a business coach amongst the many strings to her bow & I was quite interested in picking her brain about organising some coaching. I started to explain a little more about what we wanted to offer as a business in my usual enthusiastic rambling manner. Without going into all the details, I can finally say after many many jelly beans we now have a HQ. Though we don’t have any other quarters, just the head ones. & I will need a coffee machine.

It’s been a year of development here so far at CreativJam. Every pun intended. I’ve always struggled with the ‘we’ thing. The team, the us, the HQ, because none of it exists. It’s just me, at home, being super & doing what I do, with my desk, my gadgets & a lot of coffee. I’m not one of those people who pretends to have a sky rise office block whilst sitting at home in only underpants. Then there’s the mum thing. Let’s not turn this into a ‘mum blog’ for which I have a pet hate – (sorry mums – but I’m allowed, I have four of those things you write about) but it’s hard trying to work from home, with children who see you as the default parent & want you to empty the potty whilst your head is working out the best way to solve a problem. I’ve muddled through & always been honest to a fault with my clients and you know what? They like it and they come back to me. Even with the screaming in the background. As much as its endearing, it’s time for a change, and wow have the last few weeks been a change. I can’t do it all by myself, I’m not superwoman…. Wait, let’s just think about that for a second. Don’t supers usually have some kind of league behind them? Superman has his ice palace go to place, the X-Men all have drinking buddies, Batman has Robin, Matt Mullenweg has Mike Little – even the Lone Ranger lied. He had Tonto. I could go on.

Danny’s Actual Likeness

So from the fourth of May, (Star Wars Day) the Creativjam team will be moving into the Creativjam offices at St Chads Court, at the top of the old cobbled street by the town hall in Rochdale. ‘We’ hope you will be able to stop by ‘Our HQ’ for a brew and a chat about how we can make your ideas turn into flashy visuals that everyone is going to talk about – because believe me, that’s what we do! And we promise that if we do sit around in underpants, they will be on the outside of our outfits and have a matching cape. Coming soon – the next instalment – moving day!
